The 1000 meter swim is a splash and dash compared to the 1 and 3 mile races. The 1000 meter course is an approximate distance following the swim buoy line that is always present in the Los Alamitos Bay. The race begins on the north side of the pier. Swimmers follow the buoy line on their right shoulder before making a 180 degree turn by the 2nd St. bridge to loop back to the finish. The race finishes to the south of the pier and fastest to make it straight shot from the last buoy turn back to the pier. The day of the event some alternations to the course may be necessary for competitor safety. Listen for announcements on course direction just before the start.
